A September November to Remember

Only in San Diego can you walk into Mexico for dinner via CBX and be home before the Petco Park buzz wears off.” — Clifton

San Diego has a secret: the best “summer” happens after Labor Day. In this episode of Anything But CliShay, Clifton and Shay make the case for what locals call San Diego Summer—that magic stretch from September through Thanksgiving when the weather is mellow, the tourists thin out, and the city feels like it’s saving the good stuff for the home team. They record with Crown Point at their backs, where beach runs, e-bikes, and spontaneous rolling discos are basically background noise.

The tour hits Mission Bay (Thunder Boats make a cameo), SeaWorld’s weekend fireworks, and a love letter to an often-overlooked classic: Belmont Park—complete with a 1925 wooden coaster and a zipline that tests Shay’s “I like to be in control” policy. Food gets its due, too, from San Diego’s indoor-outdoor scene to a monthly jaunt across the border via CBX for dinner in Tijuana and cheap flights deeper into Mexico. Petco Park converts another baseball skeptic; the local’s pass gets a shout; tides get real.

And then there’s Unpopular Opinions: Jack in the Box vs. In-N-Out. Curly fries, value menus, and customer service receipts are entered into evidence. Court is in session—San Diego style.
