On the newest episode of Inside the Crime Files, Anne Marie has two very special guests, Secretary of Corrections and Rehabilitations, Ralph Diaz, and Former Ventura County District Attorney and Co-Chair of Golden State Communities, Greg Totten.

Anne Marie and her guests discuss some of the laws and policies that are impacting the state of California. Ralph and Greg discuss everything from what is the Early Release policy, how it works, how it has affected the crime rate, as well as issues like how elderly release affects recidivism and revictimization.

Early Release or Proposition 57, was passed by California voters in 2016 and it permits most prisoners that committed non-violent crimes to attempt early parole. It is intended to motivate prisoners to participate in rehabilitation programs.

“I'm a champion of rehabilitation. I'm a champion of a person coming to prison for the prescribed period of time as allotted by law. But during that time they get meaningful rehabilitative opportunities.” - Ralph Diaz while discussing the rehabilitation programs now offered in state prisons.
